Julia Smagacz
About Me:
I've been with Mission VB since its founding and have coached ages 13-17. I also coach the varsity level at Central High School (Burlington), where I work as an English teacher. I'm an avid reader, and love eating food that my lovely husband cooks for me. When I'm not coaching, I'm either lifting weights, reading books, drinking coffee, or watching pro volleyball.
COACHING PHILOSOPHY:
With regards to development, I'm big on reinforcement, repetition, fundamentals, and encouragement. I believe that all players have the capability to grow and be successful, and I operate on and coach with that mindset as much as I can.
PLAYING EXPERIENCE:
- 5 seasons of club volleyball, 7 seasons of high school volleyball and 2013 - 2016 D1 Volleyball (University of Akron)
Achievements:
- 2012 IHSA State Tournament 4th Place (Libertyville HS)
- 2013 2nd Place Overall Finish at AAU Nationals (18 Club, Rolling Thunder VBC)
COACHING HISTORY:
- 2022 - AAU Garnet Bracket Champions, Mission 17 Swoosh
- 2024 - AAU Ruby Bracket Champions, Mission 15 Elite (29th overall out of 150)
- 2024 - IHSA Regional Champion (Central HS)
